Onion Besan Sooji idlis

Hi all , I am sharing a recipe which is a super hit in my home. This recipe has been shared by my colleague Veena Dubey few years ago. I made it so often. It is ready in less than 45 minutes. It’s supper healthy super yummy and super easy. My family eat it as a snacks, breakfast or sometimes dinner too.Sharing with you all .

Ingredients

1. Semolina flour(sooji) – 100 grams 

2. Gram flour (besan)  – 100 grams

3. Water – 200 ml 

4. Eno – 8grams approx 

5. Salt – as per taste 

6. Mustard seeds – 1 spoon

7. Green chillis – 2

8. Onion – 1 (optional) 

9. Oil- 2 tbs

10.Curry leaves – 8-10(optional)

Recipe 

1. Finely chop the onion.

2. Slit the green chillies.

3. Mix semolina flour , gram flour , salt , ENO,Onion and water and make a paste and keep it aside.

4. Check the consistency of the batter if it seems too thick add little water in it.

5. Boil water in cooker in which idli stand fits. Water should be till the bottom plate. 

6. Greece the oil on plates of idli stand and fill the prepared mixer in it.

7.Keep the idli stand in the cooker and steam it for ten minutes 

8.Test the idli using knife. If idli does not stick to the knife then it’s ready.

9.Let the idlis cool down for 2 minutes 

10.Remove the idlis from the stand using butter knife 

11.Heat the oil in pan , add mustard seeds. Add green chillis , curry leaves once mustard seeds cracks. Add idlis.

12.Stir fry idlis for 2 minutes.

13.Serve the idlis with green chutney or tomato ketchup and masala tea ☕️.
